Life at RE/MAX Complete: A Thursday Morning in Okotoks
Every real estate office has its own personality. At RE/MAX Complete Okotoks, no two mornings are ever the same. From the weekly excitement of Realtor Tour Thursdays to spontaneous conversations that somehow turn into debates about colours and flavours, every day brings something new. This Thursday also reminded me how lucky we are to be surrounded by incredible local businesses in downtown Okotoks. What started as an ordinary workday ended with a renewed appreciation for the community we're proud to call home. The Morning Rush
"What colour marker should I use for sold homes?" Karen asked, holding up a green marker in one hand and a blue marker in the other.
"Green!" I answered without hesitation. "Green means go. "Simple enough... or so I thought.
A few moments later another question came my way. "What colour do you think the number seven is? "I paused. A colour? For a number?
My mind immediately wandered to casino slot machines. "Red," I replied confidently. "Lucky number seven has always been red."...Hasn't it? I wasn't entirely sure anymore.
That led us down an even deeper rabbit hole. "Do we naturally associate numbers with colours?
"Actually," I said, "I associate colours with flavours. Orange is easy... but blue?
"Blue raspberry!" Karen exclaimed.
From the copier across the room, where he was getting his listing sheets ready for Realtor Tour, Scot couldn't let that one slide. "In the most literal tone imaginable," he said, "there's no such thing as a blue raspberry. That's just food colouring and flavouring. "The room erupted in laughter.
Realtor Tour Thursdays
If you've never experienced a Thursday morning at our office, Realtor Tour is a long-standing tradition where REALTORS® from brokerages across Okotoks tour newly listed homes.Years ago, everyone piled into a caravan and drove from house to house. Today, everyone travels separately—or, if you're Scot, your preferred mode of transportation is a Kawasaki Ninja, especially on a beautiful July morning.
These tours give local REALTORS® the opportunity to become familiar with new listings, ask questions, and better serve their buyers. It's one of the many ways the real estate community in Okotoks works together.
Sweet Grass Deli & Eatery, and instead of driving, I decided to enjoy the walk through downtown. It struck me that, despite working in Okotoks every day, I'd never really slowed down to explore it.
Lunch in Downtown Okotoks
As the office quieted down and everyone headed out on tour, I took the opportunity to step away from my desk and grab lunch. I'd ordered avocado toast from
Sweet Grass Deli & Eatery, and instead of driving, I decided to enjoy the walk through downtown. It struck me that, despite working in Okotoks every day, I'd never really slowed down to explore it. Next door to Sweet Grass, I wandered into
Rebel Bean Roasters, where a bag of toffee-flavoured coffee immediately caught my eye.
Rebel Bean Roasters, where a bag of toffee-flavoured coffee immediately caught my eye. Whether it tastes as good as it sounds is still to be determined, but it's definitely coming home with me.
Sometimes we become so focused on where we're going that we forget to appreciate what's right outside our front door. A short walk to pick up lunch became an opportunity to discover another local business and appreciate the charm that makes downtown Okotoks such a wonderful place to spend the day.
